Parcel Thefts

Good Morning,

With it only being four days until Christmas, it is likely that many people will be ordering goods online and having them delivered. Unfortunately there are some people who will take advantage of the fact that parcels are left on doorsteps by some delivery companies, and they will steal the parcels, leading to a lot of frustration and upset.

Below is some practical advice to try and help reduce the risk of parcel theft:

• If you have ordered something of high value or if you want to ensure that your items aren’t left unattended, you can request a signature on delivery.

• Try to book a delivery slot for a time when you know someone will be at home.

• Track your parcel to ensure someone will be at home for the delivery.

• If you're not going to be at home for the delivery, arrange for your parcel to be delivered to a trusted neighbour, family member or friend.

• Consider getting the parcel delivered to a shop or a parcel locker.

• Consider installing a video doorbell; this can be connected to your mobile, so you are notified immediately of any delivery.

• Consider installing a secure parcel box that parcels can be left in.

If you suspect your parcel has been stolen then the following steps are recommended:

• Contact the person or company who has sent the item.

• If you purchased the item with a credit card, then liaise with your credit card company (the item has to be more than £100 and less than £30,000).

• Contact the police via 101 or online. If you have CCTV or doorbell footage where there is clear footage of the person or a registration of a vehicle then this would be very helpful. Without evidence, then it could be very difficult to investigate and identify any offenders.

Have a lovely weekend and don't forget to rate the message below if you found it helpful.
