Good afternoon Winchester!

As part of the 'You Said, We Did' campaign, I joined forces with @winchesterspeedwatch this morning following a number of complaints of speeding on Hyde Street and North Walls.

Both locations have a speed limit of 20MPH, however, whilst we were there, we observed 16 vehicles exceeding well over this limit (25MPH+). All offending drivers were stopped and have been dealt with.

We will continue to conduct speed enforcement activities across the city and would like to hear from you about possible locations that we should take a look at in Winchester.

I would also like to use this opportunity to highlight the fantastic work being done by the volunteers from the Winchester Speed Watch Team who have taken time out of their personal lives to take action against speeding on the roads of concern within their area.

Volunteers use equipment that can monitor the speed of passing traffic and then record the details, later adding them to a database. Vehicle checks are then undertaken by the police and further action may be taken.
