Hampshire Constabulary welcomes new District Commander for Havant and East Hampshire

Hampshire Constabulary welcomes Chief Inspector Habib Rahman as the new District Commander for policing in Havant and East Hampshire.

Chief Inspector Rahman began his policing career 25 years ago, joining Hampshire Constabulary in 1996 as a Police Constable, serving a number of communities including Portsmouth, Waterlooville, Eastleigh and Winchester.

Having worked in various roles including Neighbourhood Policing, Intelligence and Investigations, he transferred to Sussex Police in 2018 as the Critical Incident Inspector for West Sussex.

He later took up the role of Operations Inspector with responsibility for planning and managing major events in West Sussex before being promoted to Chief Inspector in the Operations department where he led on the Safer Sussex Roads Partnership.

In April this year, Chief Inspector Rahman returned to Hampshire to become the District Commander for Havant and East Hampshire, bringing with him a wealth of experience from a variety of areas of policing.

Chief Inspector Rahman said “I am delighted to be working back in Hampshire, my home county, as the District Commander for Havant and East Hampshire.

“Communities are at the very heart of policing and I feel strongly that everyone should have be able to have a voice. For me, communicating with our local residents is key to ensure that areas of risk and concern are identified, commission of offences are reduced and communities are kept safe.

“Supporting the most vulnerable members of our community is a key part of our work within neighbourhood policing, and I hope that my experience and leadership helps to build on the excellent work already being undertaken by my teams to help those at risk, whether they are facing domestic abuse, drug related harm, exploitation or any other form of risk.

“I am very much looking forward to building on our already strong partnerships to help us achieve this, with a focus on solving and tackling the issues that matter most to people.

“I am fortunate to have joined teams of dedicated officers who are committed to tackling crime and protecting people.

“I bring with me 25 years of policing experience from a number of different roles, that I hope will help me lead and build on the great work they already do. I am determined to ensure our communities in Havant and East Hampshire are provided with an excellent level of service that they rightly expect and deserve.”
