Winchester City Neighbourhood Policing Team – Weekly Recap It’s been a little while since our last update, but we’re back with a weekly recap of what the team has been up to. The past few shifts have been particularly busy, with some great results we’d like to share with you. Burglary Investigation Following several reports of a burglary, officers carried out an extensive investigation. Thanks to the swift actions of PC Lawrence and PC Wheeler, who obtained an early statement and description of the suspect, PC Baldwin and PCSO Leung were able to locate the suspect within the city centre. A male was arrested and has since been recalled to prison. Theft From Vehicle Reports Over the past week, we saw an increase in theft from vehicle reports across the city centre. PS Gawronski and PC Andrews progressed these enquiries, which led to the identification of a suspect also linked to multiple shopliftings. The male was circulated as an outstanding suspect and has since been arrested by our response team colleagues. Garage Break Series – Badger Farm & Stanmore We are aware of a series of garage breaks in the Badger Farm and Stanmore areas. PCSO Leung and PCSO Window have been conducting enquiries locally. While investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible, several stolen items have been recovered and returned to their owners — who were understandably very pleased to have them back. Outstanding Shoplifting Offender Arrested While on patrol in the High Street, PC Lawrence and PC Baldwin spotted a male wanted for multiple shopliftings and breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order. He was swiftly arrested and has since been remanded into prison. Welcome to Our New Officer Finally, we’re pleased to welcome a new officer to the team. PC Laverick has joined us as the Local Bobby for the Winchester Central Beat, covering the High Street and surrounding areas, including Winnall, Highcliffe and St Cross. He’s already been busy familiarising himself with his beat and has made several arrests of persistent offenders.
As always, thank you for your continued support and please keep reporting concerns to help us keep Winchester safe!
