🚨 Fraud Safeguarding Advice 🚨 |
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is aware of reports of telephone and online scams in which fraudsters falsely claim to be police officers in an attempt to obtain personal or banking information.
Members of the public are reminded that they should never disclose banking details, PIN numbers or passwords to anyone claiming to be from the police unless this is part of an ongoing investigation which you have already verified the Officers identity . If you are ever unsure about the identity of someone claiming to be a police officer, ask for their name and collar number, then end the call and contact Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary via 101. Our contact handlers will be able to verify the officer's identity and provide appropriate advice.
If you believe you have been the victim of a scam or fraud attempt, please report it to Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or via their website, and contact police if there is an immediate risk or threat.
